Online A Reflection

This year in online a I learned a lot. One of the most important things I have learned is Technology is important.  Five years ago I played on an original Xbox, used a flip phone without a camera, and used a dinosaur size computer.  Today I use an iMac with a six inch bigger screen that weighs about two pounds, an iPhone 4 and an Xbox 360 that can do basically whatever I want.  I the future I predict computers and phones will be transparent and game consoles will somehow put you in a game.  I use computers everyday for school work I use my computer for finding answers for all classes and my phone for finding definitions for English and Spanish class. I thing podcast can be very helpful with lots of things especially when learning.  My favorite tool was blogs because a blog is like having a million reviews about one thing.

This wrestling podcast was an episode in a series of wrestling casts.  They had a wrestling fan “special” guest and they talked about wrestling.  Though they aren’t talking about real wrestling like I like but its fun to listen to them talk about off topic topics, like the NHL lockout.  I personally did’t really learn anything from this podcast but id o think people could learn from them.  People listen to podcasts simply because they are too lazy to read  and its easier.  This podcast seemed to be very opinion based and not very resourceful.

Tech. Article

            Face book makes a woman lie about her age.  A woman from Grosse Pointe Shores, MI tried to post her age on her status of 104.  Every time she put in her birthdate as 1908 it changed to 1928.  So the woman has been 99 years old for two years now.  Facebook apologizes and just says it was a glitch in the system.

Voki vs. Blabberize

Voki, I thought was much easier to use than Blabberize.  Voki gave you options to change your avatar, that is one reason I think it was better.  Voki could be used in other classes to do presentations.  I think if that was an option i would do a project with Voki.

Digital Footprint Analysis

I had no digital footprint.  I'm very proud of this, but I think a main part of this is my mom not letting me have a facebook, and using fake names for everything.

Real Life Stories

Teresa put her name, hobbies, and occupations.  I have put similar things on the internet before also.  I think the best thing to do to stay safe on the internet is to not give out your name. 

Cyberbully

The movie was very good I thought.  It was a good comparison to real life.  Even though over dramatic, it was much like the cases we researched last week. 

Netiquette

            Netiquette is the unwritten “laws” of the internet.  Netiquette affects how people use the internet.  Some good examples of netiquette are spelling words correctly, no cursing, and no fights on social networking sites.  Bad examples of netiquette would be the opposite of good, some examples would be selling the word later “l8r”, cursing, fighting and not using common sense.

File Sharing

Downloading music for free is illegal.  MP3 sharing and file sharing is legal to an extent.  P2P sites like Shareza violate file sharing laws.  A good rule to follow is if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Copyright Case

Paramount Pictures vs. Mr. Zambito.  Mr. Zambito wrote a screen play which was called “Black Rainbow.”   He sued about the movie “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark”  and said that they copied it from him in 1981.  The judge ruled that the movie is about an American hero not smuggling cocaine like Mr. Zambito’s play.

China

Research Project

I am pleased with how I did on my project I liked practicing, presenting and learning new things about China.  My favorite part was learning about Mount Everest.  In the future I would like to learn how to mountain climb and learning how much work it takes just to be allowed to climb was way more than I expected.  My least favorite part was researching although it’s hard for me to research I don’t think there is any way to make it easier.  My main thing I learned was it costs about $60,000 and over 70 days just to climb a mountain.  In the future I think it would be easier if we could have a practice power point to look at in the share drive that the teacher made. 

Christmas Traditions

During the holidays and Christmas we always go to my grandma’s house.  We used to live in Ft. Wayne, IN and that’s where most of my mom’s family lives including my grandma.  Every year on Christmas Eve we go and exchange gifts with one another.  This year because of peoples busy schedules we couldn’t do it on Christmas Eve and the date had to be moved up to the 15th.

                After my grandmas my immediate family celebrates Christmas on Christmas day.  We always open presents, go to church come home and play with our gifts.  Usually my mom makes a spiral ham or turkey about at about 3:00 P.M.  On New Year’s Eve  my mom makes yummy sausage and cheese crackers and we watch the ball drop then the holidays are over.
